Coach Trip to Flatford Mill and Aldeburgh

Saturday 25th MAY 2019

Leaving St Andrews car park at 9am we will travel to Flatford, arriving about 10.30am. This is a National Trust property with free entry.  Flatford lies in the heart of the beautiful Dedham Vale. This charming hamlet was the inspiration for some of John Constable's most famous pictures.  There is a riverside café and several walks at Flatford including the Purple walk where you can see bluebells (hope they are still in bloom). Access to and from the coach park involves a 200 yard walk and 12 steps. If anyone has mobility problems a golf buggy is available to take you to the café and back to the coach.

We will leave Flatford Mill at 12.30 pm and travel to Aldeburgh arriving about 1.20pm. The town was the home of the composer Benjamin Britten.  Pastel-coloured 19th Century holiday villas line the promenade. Wander North along the beach and visit the four-metre high 'Scallop' made entirely of steel by Aldeburgh craftsmen. There are many cafes and small shops along the main shopping road and the Promenade. Descriptions in blue are taken from web pages and N.T. handbook.

We will leave Aldeburgh at 4.00 pm arriving back at church at about 5.15pm.

The cost of the coach is £13 Adults,Young Person 5-17 £6, Under 5’S Free.
